GOAL – Make a moment to show the World what green blockchain technology looks like.
How do you show the world what saving energy with a carbon-negative blockchain looks like? How do you show what saving energy looks like at all? You turn down one of the brightest spaces in the world. Take over 47 of the world’s most-seen digital billboards in Time Square, shepherd a message of energy conservation, and then go dark for one hour. We showed, not told, the world what Algorand can do by using less. We saved 6,500 Kilowatt Hours of energy, enough to power 350M transactions on Algorand. And 6 transactions on a legacy chain. We captured the entire experience on film, garnering over 40M impressions on socials, with a reach of 16B in April alone. Brand mentions increased by 71% on social media following the stunt.
